Ever wonder what an animal does most of the time or want to take a deeper look into animal behaviour? In this activity you will become a scientist studying animal behaviour using an ethogram. An ethogram is a way to collect data that lists all the behaviours that the animals could be doing, such as eating, drinking, walking, etc. This information allows scientists and you to determine what the animal spends most of its time doing and provides you with better understanding of that species. The best part about this activity is you can choose the animal you study! It can be a squirrel in your backyard, a pet, or a bird you find while you’re out hiking. You decide and start tracking it.
Here’s a handy data sheet you can use to record your data: http://www.freakyrivet.com/?attachment_id=5233.
