A wind-up toy is any toy that is powered by a clockwork motor. By winding up a clockwork motor, you end up storing energy in it, and this energy is used to power an object containing it. Just like music boxes, wind-up toys produce an action using the energy you give it by winding it up. Not all wind-up toys contain a complex system of gears and springs, though. In fact, you’ll be able to make a wind-up toy in this activity using a very simple system made out of common household materials.
